A Juicy Giveaway

One of the things that I've always been a little envious of is people who live in writer meccas. Two people on one of my awesome bacony email lists are getting together tomorrow (so jealous). I'm lucky to have lots of writer friends who are awesome regardless of whether we communicate in person, via email, or by smoke signal, and I appreciate that. But I also appreciate the heck out of the people I can spend time with. There's nothing like going to Applebees and shutting it down while you talk about books and writing and juices.

Don't ask.

So you've probably seen me gushing around the internet about Aimee Carter's new book Goddess Interrupted. This is because I like awesome people, and I like awesome books, so finding an awesome person who wrote an awesome book is like DOUBLE WIN. And we have shut down Applebees talking about books and writing and juices, so that's like TRIPLE WIN. That's so much win that I can't stand it.

So even though her books are swoony and suspensey and romancey, and my books are silly and ridiculousy and gory, I'd like to celebrate her release week! I'm giving away a copy of Goddess Interrupted AND a copy of Bad Taste in Boys. Because friends should stick together. And I feel cool by association when my friends do awesome things.

JUICY.

Why Zombies Are Better Than Trees

So I recently learned EXCITING THINGS. Like, BAD HAIR DAY is available on NetGalley! If you're a NetGalley reviewer, I hope you'll check it out. I believe that they're doing more NetGalley and fewer printed ARCs, so that's the place to go if you'd like to review an advance copy. YAY!

I also learned that BAD TASTE IN BOYS made it to the Sweet Sixteen for a local school's March Book Madness event. Thank you to Mrs. S and her classes, because that is the awesomest of awesome things!!! Honestly, I squealed. Like out loud. And my kids thought I was a raccoon in the basement, because we had one of those a couple of weeks ago. But it was still cool.

But then I got pretty scared, because my little book of zombie mayhem is up against THE LORAX. That's right--this is probably the only time in my life that I will be in a competition against Dr. Seuss.

That scares me, it does.
It scares me real bad.
It scares me so bad that I called my friend Tad.
Tad is a lad with a dad who is bad.
And none of this has anything to do with anything, but I'm having fun so sue me.

Anyway.

That made me start to think. This is essentially a battle of zombies versus trees, right? And what would that be like?

The zombie would be all lurch, moan, "BRAAAAINS!", and the tree would be all ...... Then the zombie would be all manic flailing, and the tree would be all ...... And the zombie would start gnawing on the bark, and the tree would be all ...... And the zombie would be all brainless tree attacking, and the tree would be all ....... And the zombie would knock the tree down on top of itself, and the tree would be all ...... And the zombie would crawl away minus a few non-essential limbs, and the tree would be dead.

This is why zombies are better than trees. That is all.

ALL THE THINGS...complete with bullet points

People, there is NEWS. Some of it is even GOOD. A lot of it will be in OVEREXCITED CAPITAL LETTERS, but you're used to that, right? RIGHT. Anyway, there is so much news, that I will be breaking out the bullet points. For some reason, bullet points make me happy. Like, you can imagine depressed me going around and sticking bullet points on ALL THE THINGS and then miraculously feeling much better. Bullet points, they're miraculous.

Oh, yeah. The news. Here it is.
  • I have advance copies of BAD HAIR DAY! And of course I held them up in front of my face and pretended that I was the cover model. The book won't officially be out until November, but now I'll be able to give a few copies away in the meantime! And giving things away makes me almost as happy as bullet points.

  • It's Fug Madness time! If you haven't been reading Go Fug Yourself, it's a hilarious fashion website, and they're picking the fuggiest celebs of the year. The writers are snort-stuff-out-of-your-nose funny. Every time I think of the word "polterwang," I get the giggles.
  • Oh, if you're interested in BAD HAIR DAY, you can now preorder it from the major book retail websites! I'll be adding links to the website for this SOON. Alternately, you can visit the new Carrie Harris Books FB page, where there are all kinds of handy ordering links for the upcoming BTIB paperback and the BHD hardcover, and a deleted Kate and Aaron scene from BAD TASTE IN BOYS. And I'll be giving things away there periodically too.
  • Bullet points are miraculous. Did I mention that already?
  • There's a bunch of awesome stuff up for grabs at the Authors for Henryville site, including signed copies of BTIB and BHD (once it comes out). You should bid on something to help tornado victims, but please don't outbid me. I'll cry. ;)
  • ARG Zombies looks like the coolest game ever. I want to play it. But in the meantime, I'm training for THIS. And of course I will be volunteering as a zombie. As if you had to ask. I will need help deciding what kind of zombie I should be, though. HELP ME.

And now I'm hungry. Which has nothing to do with anything above, but I wanted to tell you anyway.
