HalloWOW

Man, Halloween just rocked.

Slayer was a samurai. The twins were pajama fairies, because for some reason all of the fairy costumes have these tiny little dresses that are not remotely suited for Michigan evenings. So I got some fairy wings, dressed them in polka dotted footie pajamas, and BAM! Pajama fairies! Son was Superman at first, but we got him a set of Batwings for his birthday. (I looked for Batbrows, but for some reason none of the stores carry them.) So he put the wings on over the costume and ended up being The Superbat.

That's my boy. Already doing the costume mishmash just like his mommy.

As for me, I ended up being the Variously Confused Goddess. See, I dug out the goddess costume at the last minute, and then I spent the entire night walking around trying to resist the urge to steal parts of other people's costumes. First, I saw this kid with a disco outfit on, and I wanted to steal his wig so I could be Afro-dite. Then I almost took a cheerleader's pompom so I could be Her-rah. And then I almost chased down this poor little pirate guy so I could take his hook and be Athen-argh.

So really, I spent all of trick-or-treating walking around and giggling to myself. People probably thought I was dressed up as the Goddess of Complete Lunatics.

I wish I would have dressed up as the Goddess of Working Cameras, because we borrowed my mother-in-law's camera and couldn't make it take any pictures. But some lady from the newspaper took some of us and said she'd email them to us. So hopefully that will happen. If not, we'll have to dress up again and take some pictures. It'll be Halloween - The Harriscentric Sequel.

Like I'd complain about that.

How was your Halloween? Inquiring minds want to know. And I want to know too.

Afro-dite - LOL!

My Halloween was very, very boring. Some monsters knocked at the door and then I watched 'Nightmare Before Christmas' for the 700th time.

My 18 month old thought it was awesome that you could knock on a complete strangers door and they would give you m&m's. I'm pretty sure he is going to be disappointed when he finds out that only works once a year.

Sounds like fun! And you KNOW I love the costume mishmash, because it's my new fettish . . . thanks to you! ;0P

i was sick on Halloween. I ended up going to bed while my hubby took the kids trick or treating. :0( I should have stood at my window in the dark with a flashlight under my chin so I could freak out the trick or treaters. Darn. I was too sick to even do that! Maybe next year.

No one in my neighborhood participates in trick or treating, so we took the boys (a 3-year-old cowboy and a 2-year-old cow) to the mall and collected candy. Now the boys want to go to the mall every day.

I guess upside-down fake eyelashes just won't do for batbrows. Love the pajama fairies!

Love the creative costumes.

My almost three year old comprehending the whole Trick or Treat idea and covered more ground then I ever imagined with a five year old boy. So cute. It was a fun night. :)

You know how my Halloween was. :) I posted.

I can just picture you going up to the store clerk and asking, "Don't you have any batman eyebrows? I want the really bushy ones."

*giggling to self*

Imagine that clerk's face! Unless, of course, he or she reads your blog. Then they'd understand completely. *nods*

LOL!! Love the costume mish-mash. :)

We had a good Halloween. I took my Batman and Lightening McQueen trick or treating at the local businesses near our house. Everyone was out, and it was great to chit chat with the neighbors. :)

As for the eyebrows, I couldn't find any either. So my Batman was missing a key piece of his costume. :)

I swear every year I say I'm going to dress up and then I never do it. This year I wanted to go as V from V for Vendetta. I think I could pull that off quite well, ahem. But of course, I never do it.

Then again, my wife and I haven't gone to a Halloween party in years. I guess that means I would just wander around the house in my costume. Which, actually, um, could still be fun...if you know what I mean.

I know, TMI.

Cate: You could have had some of our trick-or-treaters. We had over 300. I have candy coming out my ears now.

Jamie: Yeah, my girls are the same way. They didn't want to let go of the candy; I think they were worried it would disappear.

Christy: Aw! I hope you're feeling better!!!

Rob: We used to do that when we lived in Cleveland, so I know exactly what you mean.

Adrienne: Hey, that eyelash thing is a great idea! Can I borrow it?

Keri: Funny how quickly they catch on when there's candy involved, huh? ;)

Abi: God, that's so true. I need a Halloween recovery week.

Glamis: Yeah, I think I'll need to print up some business cards for moments just like that. Hah!

Tabitha: I'm glad you had fun. :) And as long as you THOUGHT of the eyebrows, I'm happy.

Balthazar: Hey, my hubby was a samurai. Lots of inappropriate sword jokes around our house. So I know exactly what you mean. Snarf.

Love the mix-n-match :) Superbat! My man would love that!

My Halloween was great. Took my little brother out with a couple family friends of ours. He went as toast, the twins went as catgirl and a pretty devil, we had a princess, firefighter, and a goddess of candy. The adults even dressed up: Samurai, pro wrestler, renn fest woman, Katara, and moms ;)

It was a good night. Happy birthday to your little guy again!

Ours was awesome. It was a perfect fall day for trick or treating. I love seeing the kids get so excited about it. I'm still eating too much candy, though...

I had a bunch of trick-or-treaters this year, including a kid dressed apparently as an emo goth kid who said with a sneer, "Is that all?" when I gave him his candy. I laughed, though, because obviously it was part of the costume, and he grinned back, and I wondered how many times he'd been smacked that night.

I love Afro-dite as a costume!

After much discussion and rule-setting, we let our 6th grade son and 6th grade nephew trick or treat one block ALONE.

Well, actually they weren't completely alone, my entire family had their noses pressed to all of the downstairs windows of my house 'watching them'. It was a pretty cool rite of passage and they felt totally grown up.

They made it back just fine, just like I did when my parents let me trick or treat 'dad-free' in 6th grade.

Jedi here. The big thrill for me was when this 5 year old in a Darth Vader costume asked his mom for his red light saber so we go at it.

And let me tell you, it can be fun to be a Jedi, especially at parties. Why? Because the Jedi Mind Trick comes into play. e.g.
:

"You will laugh at my jokes".
Wave hand. They laugh.

"You will enjoy talking to me"
Wave hand. More laughter. They do

"You find me very attractive"
Wave hand. They laugh harder.

Two out of Thee Ain't Bad, Ok?

I went trick or treating...with a martini glass.

Tiny T: I still think the toast costume is genius. Was he toast with butter?

Natalie: Mmmm. Chinese buffet. Thank you for helping with my diet. Not. ;)

Kelly: Oh yeah. And we have all these Reece's. I cannot resist the Reece's.

KC: I would have given the emo goth kid ALL my candy. That's hilarious.

KM: Man, I bet they thought they were seriously hot stuff, didn't they? :)

Skilli: Yeah, I think you made that kid's night. :)

slhastings: I need to go trick-or-treating with you next year! You've got the right idea.

Love the idea of the the Goddess of Complete Lunatics, even though you called it something else first.

Sorry your camera didn't work!

Our Halloween was pretty good. We went to the Halloween parade and missed all the trick-or-treaters. But now I only have some candy in my house, compared to all the candy in the world, which I was allowed to eat all weekend, since Halloween is the start of my birthday, even though technically it was on Sunday.
