My Favorite Things

I think people's obsessions say a lot about them. For example, I give you this:

My bulletin board during my junior high years, with my friend from down the street standing in front of it. Yes, that was Michael J. Fox, in all his teen magazine poster glory. I was obsessed with him, not her, in case you were wondering. I even used to kiss him good night. I thought I had a picture of that, but I must have destroyed it back when I thought I still had a chance of being cool.

Then, I was obsessed with New Kids on the Block. I had a brief Madonna obsession but didn't have the guts to wear a bustier in public, and now that I do have the guts I can't do it unless I want to frighten away small children. Figures, don't it?

Looking back on the past six-ish months of posts on The Wonder That Is My Blog, I realize that it's really just a big recording of all of my obsessions in chronological order. So without further ado, I bring you a rehash of my favorite things. Songstyle.

Eyebrows on Batman and vampire guppies
Zom Cruise and Pampire biting on puppies
Sparkle-y merpires and their ochre fins
These are a few of my favorite things

Zombies all lurching and moaning in masses
Ninjas all flocking to save all our asses
Richard Simmons keeps dancing in pink water wings
These are a few of my favorite things

When the end comes
When the sword swings
When I'm staking Vlad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

Cool song. We should start a band. Carrie Harris and the Zompires. I'll play drums.

I loved (and still love) Michael J. Fox. I had a corkboard with his pictures all over it too and notebooks and files etc etc etc. Do I spy (at the bottom of the photo) a picture of the top of Emilio Estevez's head? I had a huge, huge, huge poster of Emilio above my bed. I thought he was sooooo beautiful.

lol, that song will be stuck in my head ALL day. My boss will think I have lost it.... wait, he already does!

The pink water wings just got me. Tears in my eyes here. That was beautiful, thanks.

Ah obsessions. At least your teenage ones sounded mildly acceptable. Mine? Sailor Moon, Dragonball, Final Fantasy...okay all anime. I had posters of CARTOON boys that I was in love with. All of this made me a HUGE dork.

Funny how anime is so popular now...I was so ahead of my time.

Wow, Carrie. Thanks for the laugh! LOL! Michael J. Fox is awesomely cute, I must admit. :)

Hey, what's up with this?? You said you played the drums, you never said you wrote lyrics, too! We should totally tour together.

I must admit I'm a big Fox fan too, though maybe for different reasons.

NKOTB?

(shudders)

...although I do enjoy Menudo

That was great...I think you should make a video to go with it.
And Micheal J. Fox is very cool.

Jamie: Well, we're clones. Um... uh... forget I said that. It's supposed to be a secret.

Jeremy: But I want to play the drums. Unless we both play and do a percussion duel. I'd completely go for that.

Cate: You recognize Emilio solely on the basis of his forehead. I knew there was a reason I liked you. ;)

Hanna: I'm happy to contribute to your general aura of wackiness any time!

KC: I don't know why I chose pink water wings, but it sure is a great mental picture, isn't it?

Natalie: I still watch El Hazard every once in a while, speaking of old school anime.

Christy: Only one problem. I can't sing. Not in a way that would make people want to listen, anyway.

Glamis: Yes, he is. Especially in the Back to the Future jean jacket and mirror shades. Ah, young love. ;)

Kiersten: I'm a woman of many talents. Durr. I'll help with PUNKtuations lyrics any day.

Aaron: Menudo? I'm sorry; every cell in my body just winced in tandem.

Adrienne: Again, if I could sing, I would consider it. Maybe Slayer would sing it for me. He's got a good voice. I sound like a Smurf on illegal drugs.

In middle school, I had a poster of an actual person I knew. In it, he was festively grabbing his crotch.

you are a poet too?

LOVED MJF. I wanted so bad to go back to the future with him!!! NKOB held a short obsession with me (Jordan was the best), but I think I only loved them so everyone else would think I was cool. When I quit caring about them, I rocked out much more.

That song is the best. It officially ranks in my top five favorite songs now (which changes on a weekly basis, but yours will be permanent).

For a long time I had a similar shrine to Orlando Bloom. It's gone now, but he's still dreamy!
